A couple contacted High Desert Heritage and Research about repatriating a sandstone boulder they have that contains rock imagery. This is a small boulder that seems to have been removed from a larger monolith, and it shows petroglyphs on several facets.
This boulder was originally moved from an unknown location by an unidentified rancher in Box Elder County. The rancher gave the boulder to the grandmother of the current custodian of the item sometime prior to 1971. In 1971 the custodian's grandmother moved to Woods Cross and brought this boulder with her. The grandmother passed away in 1974 and this boulder has been in this location ever since.
More updates to follow as we determine what tribes would like to claim this item as a part of their heritage, as archaeological investigation to determine it's location and manufacture dates progress, and as we find a suitable permanent home for this item.
We need your help to repatriate this item! Donate today at this special link to support this boulder's journey home: www.highdesertheritage.com/daviscounty2026-01donate
