Matthew Podolinsky (he/him) is the Utah Program Coordinator for the National Forest Foundation (NFF). He collaborates with the five National Forests in Utah on watershed restoration, forest health, and recreation enhancement projects. Prior to his current role, Matthew served as the Engagement Specialist with the Utah Cultural Site Stewardship (UCSS) program, where he engaged with volunteers to safeguard cultural and archaeological sites throughout the state. His graduate research focused on developing effective strategies to educate visitors and promote respectful visitor behavior at rock imagery sites. He continues to be fascinated by the intersection of archaeology and outdoor recreation. He is honored to be a part of the High Desert Heritage & Research Board of Directors. You can typically find Matthew outdoors in the mountains or desert hiking with his partner and dog

Paula Beall
Paula is an archaeologist, community advocate, and experienced nonprofit leader committed to preserving sharing Arizona's cultural heritage.
Board Member
Paula currently serves as President of the Homolovi Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society and previously served as Secretary of the Arizona Archaeological Society at the state level. Through her work, she promotes archaeological education, cultural resource stewardship, and stronger connections between archaeology and the local community.
She is also the owner of Book Dig, a new bookstore focused on archaeology, history, cultural heritage, and books that encourage exploration and learning. Her leadership experience also includes five years as Vice President of ABATE Arizona, where she was involved in fundraising, public outreach, and legislative advocacy.
Paula is passionate about protecting archaelogical resources, sharing history with the public, and creating opportunities for people to connect with the cultural heritage.
Patti Lavell
Patti Lavell is a Tribal relations and public policy professional whose work centers on building respectful, meaningful relationships with Tribal Nations and protecting Indigenous cultural heritage.

Patti Lavell is a Tribal relations and public policy professional whose work centers on building respectful, meaningful relationships with Tribal Nations and protecting Indigenous cultural heritage. She currently serves as Director of American Indian Relations for the Ohio History Connection, working with more than 50 federally recognized Tribal Nations. Patti brings to High Desert Heritage & Research a deep commitment to Tribal sovereignty, cultural responsibility, and listening to and learning from Tribal communities.
