Our Work
Repatriation
Services
Repatriation services form the foundation of HDHR’s operations and fulfills our mission. Through this program, we provide a structured, compassionate pathway for private collectors and inheritors to return cultural items responsibly.

HDHR coordinates all aspects of the repatriation process, including communication between stakeholders, logistical planning, and documentation. By managing these complex steps, HDHR removes barriers that would otherwise prevent repatriation and ensures that returns are conducted respectfully and in accordance with Tribal guidance.

Intake
The process begins with case intake, during which collectors submit information about items in their possession through confidential and accessible channels.

Research
HDHR then conducts detailed documentation and provenance research to assess the nature, origin, and potential cultural significance of each item.

Documentation
HDHR initiates consultation with Tribal representatives to determine cultural affiliation and proper next steps.

Plan Execution
HDHR enacts the agreed upon solutions for each artifact or collection.
